A powerful remote control bomb targeting a truck detonated by unknown miscreants near Wakho Bridge, killing at least 13
persons and injuring 11 others on Kohat road here on Tuesday, official said.
Inspector General of Police, Malik Naveed Khan told reporters that 13 persons have been killed and 11 others injured when
mini truck was targeted with roadside Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
He said that the bomb was planted under Wakho Bridge. Malik Naveed said the death toll could further rise due to severe
injuries to the people.
The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital and CMH.
The condition of two injured was stated to be critical. Emergency has been declared in City’s major hospitals where
doctors on leave called in for duty. All the 13 bodies have been taken to Lady Reading Hospital.
The deceased include a baby girl as well. A team of Pakistan Air Force doctors arrived at Lady Reading hospital, where 11
injured in critical state are being treated. At least seven security men are among the injured.
The deceased include Bakhraj Shah, Zareen, Mukhtiar, Nazia, Saifullah, Sareer, Bacha Gul and Tuafail.
Meanwhile, the NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti have strongly condemned the bomb
blast and expressed their heart felt grief and sorrow over loss of lives and properties.
They said that elements involved in this heinous act cannot escape from the clutches of law and would soon be brought to
justice. They expressed sympathies with members of bereaved families and prayed Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul
in eternal peace.
Meanwhile, the NWFP government announced to give Rs. 1,00,000 to the bereaved families.
